Installing and configuring automatically

Your administrator might install and set up IBM® mail support for Microsoft Outlook (IBM® mail add-in) on your computer for you. But if not, follow these quick steps to install and set it up automatically.

Before you begin

  • Make sure that you comply with the requirements. For more information, see Client requirements.
  • Mail that is 30 days old or less will be synced to Outlook. If you use Outlook currently and you want to be able to view existing mail that is older than 30 days in Outlook, make a local archive before you continue. For more information, see Archiving existing mail in advance (current Outlook users).

Procedure

  1. Log on to Connections Cloud.
  2. In your dashboard click, click the arrow on your photo and select Downloads and Setup.
  3. Under IBM Notes Client Configuration File, click View IBM Notes options.
  4. In the Welcome to IBM SmartCloud Notes page, click With a Microsoft Outlook client.
  5. Follow the steps that are described on the web page:
    1. Install a supported Microsoft Outlook client. A link to the list of supported clients is provided.
    2. Install the IBM mail support for Microsoft Outlook client add-in from the download site. A link to the installation file is provided for you.
    3. Configure your Outlook client automatically. This step creates a profile to use to connect to your mail in the cloud. The name of the profile is your email address

Results

Outlook starts with a new profile created for the IBM mail add-in. Use the new profile to connect to your mail in the cloud to begin syncing your mail. Mail that is 30 days old or less is synced to Outlook.

You're only required to complete this procedure the first time you install the IBM® mail add-in. When updates and new versions are available, you see the following prompt, so that you can install them automatically: An upgrade is available from IBM Mail Sync. Would you like to download it now?
