Creating an operation from recorded events

You can save events, including information from the monitor on which they were recorded, as a new operation.

Procedure

  1. In the Recording Studio perspective, highlight the recorded events that you want to use as the basis of an operation.
Typically, you highlight two events, one for input and one for output. Use the Shift or Ctrl key to select multiple events.
  2. Click the Create Operation from monitor and recorded events icon in the main Events View toolbar. Alternatively, click the Save icon on the main toolbar, click operations on the first page of the Recorded Events wizard, and click Next.
  3. On the Operation Assignment page of the Recorded Events wizard, you can change the default name of the operation. When you finish, click Next.
  4. On the Parent Assignment page, you can change the parent component for the operation. When you finish, click Next.
  5. On the Summary page, confirm your options by clicking Finish.

Results

An operation is created with the details form the recorded messages, and the operation details are displayed in the operation wizard.

For HTTP messages, any HTTP headers from the request message or messages are added to the list of headers in the configuration, but all are disabled except for the SOAPAction header. If you want to filter messages coming in to a stub based on an HTTP header that is currently disabled:
  1. Click the Stub tab
  2. Make sure Filter header values is selected
  3. Select the Enabled check box for the header you want to use as a filter

You can also disable active header filters or add headers to the list. For more information, see Filtering header values and Creating an operation.
