Viewing resources associated with components

After you associate test suites and virtual services resources with components in the system model, you can view the associated resources from the System Model page. You can opt to start an instance of the associated resource or stop a running instance of the associated resource.

Before you begin

You must have completed the following tasks:

Procedure

  1. Log in to HCL OneTest Server.

    The My Projects page of your team space is displayed.

  2. Click your project that contains the test suites and virtual services resources.
  3. Click System Model.

    The System Model page is displayed.

  4. Select a component that is associated with one or multiple test suites and virtual services resources.

    The details about the assets in the branch that are associated with the component are displayed in the right pane.

  5. Click the Overview tab, if it is not already displayed.
    The virtual services resources associated with the component are listed in the Virtual Services panel. You can perform the actions described in the following table:
    Field Description Action
    Collapse icon image of the icon You can collapse the Virtual Resources panel by clicking the Collapse icon image of the icon. Click the icon to toggle between the collapsed and expanded display of the Virtual Services panel.
    Show all icon image of the icon You can opt to view the virtual services that are associated with the component either on the Resources or Instances page.

    You can start an instance of the virtual service from the Resources page while you can stop a running instance from the Instances page.

    Perform the following steps:
    1. Click the Show all icon image of the icon.
    2. Select any of the following actions:
      • To start an instance of the virtual service:
        1. Select Show all in resources page to go to the Resources page.
        2. Click the Execute icon Image of the virtual resources page icon. in the row of the virtual service.
        3. Configure the settings for the run of the virtual service, if you want to change any of the settings, else click Execute.

        The virtual service starts to run.

      • To stop a running instance of the virtual service:
        1. Select Show all in instances page to go to the Instances page.
        2. Identify the instance that you want to stop and click the Stop icon Image of the stop run icon. in the Actions column of the selected virtual service instance.
        3. Click Ok in the Stop virtual service instance dialog box that is displayed.

        The running virtual service instance is stopped.

    Name You can view the name of the associated virtual service and the path in the repository. There is no action to perform.
    Instances You can view the state of the running instance of the virtual service resource. The state is displayed as Running only if the instance is running. There is no action to perform.
    Action You can go to the Resources page to view the virtual service resource when you click the Show resource icon image of the icon.

    You can start an instance of the virtual service from the Resources page.

    Click the Show resource icon image of the icon to view the virtual service on the Resources page.

    The virtual service resource is displayed on the Resources page.

    Expand icon image of the icon You can expand the virtual service card only if the virtual service is a running instance.

    In the expanded card, you can view the details such as the Environment, the total number of requests received by the virtual service, and the relative time from when the virtual service was started.

    You can stop a running instance of the virtual service from the Instances page.

    Perform the following steps:
    1. Expand the virtual service card for a running instance.

      You can view the details of the instance.

    2. Click the Show instance icon image of the icon to go to the Instances page to view the running instance of the virtual service.

      The running instance of the virtual service is displayed on the Instances page.

    In the Test Suites panel, the test suites associated with the component are listed. You can perform the actions described in the following table:
    Field Description Action
    Collapse icon image of the icon You can collapse the Test Suites and Virtual Services panels by clicking the Collapse icon image of the icon. Click the icon to toggle between the collapsed and expanded display of the Test Suites and Virtual Services panels.
    Type You can view the test suite type. Hover over the test suite icon to view the test suite type. For example, the test suite can be any one of the following types:
    • AFT Test
    • API Test
    • API Suite
    • Compound Test
    Name You can view the name of the associated test suite and the path in the repository. There is no action to perform.
    Status You can view the details of the last five test runs of the test suite. Click each of the squares to view the details of the specific test run. For example, if the status of a test run is represented as shown in the image Status of test run, then it indicates that the test suite has run only two times. After you click any colored square, the Results page is displayed.
    Action You can go to the Execution page to view the test suite resource when you click the Show in execution page icon image of the icon.

    You can start the execution of the test suite from the Execution page.

    Click the Show in execution page icon image of the icon to view the test suite on the Execution page.

    The test suite is displayed on the Execution page.

Results

You have either viewed an instance of the resources that are associated with a component from the System Model page.
