Configuring floating licenses

An administrator must configure the number of purchased floating licenses in Rational® Test Automation Server for the users to create a project and perform other tasks in the project.

Before you begin

You must have installed the product and signed up as a user on Rational® Test Automation Server.

You must be an administrator of Rational® Test Automation Server.

About this task

As an administrator, you can assign the role of an administrator to any user. For information about how to change the role, see the related link.

Note: When your role from a user is changed to an administrator, you must log out and log in again so that Rational® Test Automation Server can apply the change in your role.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Rational® Test Automation Server.

    The Configure licensing dialog box is displayed for the first time you log in or if the licenses are not configured.

  2. Enter the number of floating user licenses in the Maximum number of floating users field.
    Notes:
    • You must ensure that the number of floating licenses that you configure does not exceed the number of licenses you have purchased. The number of floating users must not exceed the number of floating licenses that you have purchased.
    • Rational License Key Server that is configured during the installation of Rational® Test Automation Server is displayed.
  3. Click Configure.
    The Licensing compliance dialog box is displayed.
    Important: You can allocate the purchased licenses across multiple servers only if the total number of floating users that you configure across the servers does not exceed the total number of purchased licenses.
  4. Verify that you have entered the permissible number of licenses that you want to use on this server.
  5. Click Confirm.

Results

The licenses are configured and the following message is displayed:
“Licensing is successfully configured”
