Using the Administrators field to control access to individual documents in the Domino Directory

Most types of documents in the Domino® Directory contain an Administration tab with an Administrators field on it. To allow an administrator who has Author access to the directory to modify a single document, enter the administrator's name in the Administrators field.


  1. From the Domino Administrator open the server that stores the Domino Directory you want to change.
  2. Click the Files tab and open the Domino Directory.
  3. Open any document and click Edit.
  4. Click the Administration tab.
  5. In the Administrators field, enter the names of individual administrators or the name of a group of administrators who can edit this document.
    Note: The designated administrator(s) cannot modify the Owner or Administrators fields even though they have access to edit the document. For a group document, the designated administrators can edit only the Group Members field.
  6. Click Save & Close.
