Getting the software

There are different ways for you to get HCL Portal and Web Content Manager Version 8.5 software.

Local repository installation option

With this option, you download all the installation packages and create a local repository. If you choose this option, the HCL Portal Version 8.5 Beta distribution package contains the following files:

File size File name Description
2.8 GB WAS8551.zip IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Network Deployment Trial v8.5.5
2.1 GB JAVA7.zip IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition
1.1 GB SETUP.zip HCL Portal and Web Content Manager Beta Setup Disk (includes IBM® Installation Manager)
1.4 GB WP85_Server.zip HCL Portal Server
753 KB WP85_Enable.zip HCL Portal and Web Content Manager
To create a complete installable image, download the files into a common location and extract each one into a directory name that matches the name of the file (without ".zip"). For example, if you download the files into the directory /Downloads/PortalVNext, you end up with the following set of folders after you extract:
/Downloads/PortalVNext/SETUP
                     /WAS8551
                     /JAVA7
                     /WP85_Server
                     /WP85_Enable
To begin the installation, change to the SETUP directory and run the following command:
  • Linux setup.sh
  • Windows setup64.exe
This task starts the Launchpad program. Use the Launchpad to install all the required software. The Launchpad installs IBM® Installation Manager for you at the supported level if you do not have it.

Live repository installation option

With this option, all you need to know is the location of the live repositories. IBM® Installation Manager takes care of downloading and installing the necessary packages.
