Installing DevOps Test Integrations and APIs Agent

Follow these instructions to install HCL DevOps Test Integrations and APIs Agent (Test Integrations and APIs Agent) or the HCL DevOps Test Performance (Test Performance) Agent.

Before you begin

Download all of the files required for the installation and extract them to a repository location in the recommended structure. After downloading the core installation packages, you must create repository locations that point to the disktag.inf file in each package. If there are multiple packages, you must create repository locations for each package. If a package contains multiple disks, create repository locations pointing to each disktag.inf file or supply the information when prompted during the installation.

About this task

This procedure also contains information related to software upgrades. Before proceeding with the installation, determine if the upgrade is applicable to the version that you are installing. You cannot directly upgrade Test Integrations and APIs Agent from any of the earlier versions to the latest version. You must uninstall the existing version and then install the latest version.

By starting the installation process from the launchpad program, Installation Manager is automatically installed if it is not already on your computer, and it starts preconfigured with the repository location of the product package. If you install and start Installation Manager directly, you must set repository preferences manually.

Procedure

  1. Select the method to use to obtain the product software.
    • The first method involves installing from compressed files, such as .zip or ISO files. Extract the files into a common directory. Extract the disk images to directories that are named /disk1, /disk2, and so on. Extract the Setup disk image to a directory that is named RPTS_SETUP. The Setup disk contains the launchpad executable program.
      • For Windows. launchpad.exe and launchpad64.exe (for 64-bit systems)
      • For Linux. launchpad.sh
    • The second method involves installing from a CD. If you are running on Linux, mount the CD drive.
Insert the first product disk into your CD drive. If autorun is enabled on your workstation, the launchpad program starts automatically. Otherwise, start the launchpad program manually.
      • For Windows. Run the launchpad.exe or launchpad64.exe (for 64-bit systems) command, which is in the root directory of the Setup disk installation image.
      • For Linux. Run the launchpad.sh command, which is in the root directory of the Setup disk installation image.
  2. Select a language in which to run the launchpad and Installation Manager.
  3. Select HCL DevOps Test Performance (Test Performance) from the launchpad menu. The Install Packages window opens.
  4. Optional: Alternatively, start an existing instance of Installation Manager and provide the location of the installation package as a repository:
    1. In Installation Manager, click File > Preferences.
    2. Click Add Repository Location and provide the path to the repository.config file (if it is a setup or launchpad package) or the disktag.inf file (if it is a core installation package) in the installation directory that you extracted.
  5. Click each of the product packages to highlight them. The description of the package is displayed in the Details pane at the bottom of the window. If more information about the package is available, such as a readme file or release notes, a More info link is included. To fully understand the package that you are installing, review all information. The following packages are available:
    1. HCL DevOps Test Integrations and APIs Agent (Test Integrations and APIs Agent)
    2. (Test Performance Test Server) Agent

To view all updates that are found for the available packages, click Show all versions.

Note: For Installation Manager to search the predefined HCL® update repository locations for the installed packages, the Search the linked repositories during installation and updates preference on the Repositories preference page must be selected.
