Migrating data from HCL Connections™ 6 CR6 to 6.5
Migrate data from your HCL Connections™ 6 CR6 databases and update the schemas to the most recent Connections 6.5 level.
Note: If your version of Connections
is earlier than version 5.0, you must first migrate to version 5.0 and then migrate to version 6
CR6. Also, make sure that you use the appropriate wizard and check for applicable technical notes to
see if there are patches required.
To migrate your data, you can choose from two different strategies:- Side-by-side
- Create new 6.5 databases on a separate system, update them to the most recent 6.5 level, and transfer your existing 6 CR6 data to that system. Then update the new databases to version 6.5. This strategy requires more time and resources than an in-place migration but means that you can test the update while you continue to use your older databases. - In-place
- Instead of migrating your 6 CR6 data, update the databases to the most recent 6 CR6 level on the same system as the earlier version. This strategy saves time and hardware resources.
Note: You can update databases with the Connections database wizard or with the SQL scripts and Java™ migration utility that are provided with the product.
