Catalog Filter

Use this page to exclude any of the products or categories in the master catalog that you do not want to sell at your specific store. You can also define additional or change existing price adjustments on the products and categories you have selected to sell.

The Catalog Filter displays the filter settings from the current contract and all parent base contracts (if applicable). The Catalog Filter also displays the filter settings from the hosting contract for the store. If you use a multiple contract hierarchy, a contract might have several base contracts, and the Catalog Filter displays the relevant settings from all the base contracts. That is, the Catalog Filter will display the settings for a contract and all its parent contracts.

If the base contract or hosting contract has excluded a category or product, the category or product will have an X, and you will not be able to include that category or product in the store or contract. If the base contract has included the catalog, category or product, then the catalog, category or product will have a check mark, and the percentage adjustment or fixed price from the base contract will be displayed, unless there is a filter setting in the customer contract for the same catalog, category, or product.

You cannot set a price adjustment or a fixed price in a customer contract that will offer a higher price to the customer than is set in the base contract. For example, you cannot set +20% adjustment to Category A when the base contract has -30% adjustment to Category A. However, you can change to a -40% because that offers a lower price to the customer. Similarly, you cannot set $20.00 fixed price to Product B when the base contract has a $10.00 fixed price for Product B. However, you can change the customer's price to be $3.00. If the base contract has a fixed price for Product C, then you can only set a fixed price in the customer contract for Product C.

In a case where you have multiple price lists, a price list selection tool displays at the top of the catalog filter, listing the price lists available for the contract. The selected price list becomes the basis for all adjustments. If your store only has one price list defined, then this selection tool is hidden.

The Catalog Filter presents the master catalog as an aggregated navigation tree of all products and categories available for sale from the store. The Catalog Filter consists of the following parts:
Catalog tree
Use this to include the catalog, categories, and products; exclude categories and products; and adjust prices to the entire catalog or to products (either by fixed price, such as discounting all seasonal books to $10 per book; or by percentage, such as 10% off all books). You can also view the actual price (using the Calculate Price option) that customers will see for a product.
Include option
Displays when a node does not currently have a filter setting. This option sets the catalog, category, or product as included at 0% discount.
Include with Adjustment option
Displays when you include either the entire catalog, category, or product. A dialog displays in which you set the price adjustment for the catalog, category, or product that you are including for sale in the store.
Set Price Adjustment option
Displays when you are working with price adjustments.
Kit Component Pricing option
Displays when setting price adjustments on dynamic kit components.

Catalog tree

The catalog tree consist of various entries and icons indicating the status of the catalog tree entries. Entries in the tree can be expanded to display more entries below the selected entry. Selecting an entry in the tree displays a context-sensitive menu from which you can select various actions. The actions available from the menu depend on the type of catalog tree entry and the status of catalog tree entry. The status of a catalog tree entry is indicated by the icons appearing before the entry.

For more help on the parts of the catalog tree, see the following sections:

Catalog tree node types The catalog tree displays the catalog, categories, and catalog nodes. This includes products, SKUs, bundles, and kits.

Catalog tree icons

Entries in the catalog tree might have icons appearing before each entry. The following table provides the name and description of the icons that can display before entries in the catalog tree:

Icon Name Description
Catalog Filter graphic to identify that this is an explicit filter Explicit filter The catalog tree entry has had a filter applied to it explicitly. All tree entries below an explicitly filtered catalog tree entry inherit the filter applied to the selected tree node unless the nodes also have an explicit filter applied to them.

An explicit filter is applied when you include or exclude a catalog tree entry. An explicit filter is also applied when you change the inherited price adjustment on catalog tree entries.

This icon displays with the other icons shown in this table to indicate whether a product or category is included or excluded. Price adjustments display in square brackets after the product or category.

Consumer direct (B2C)For B2C stores, if the filter is applied on a reseller category or product, or a supplier category or product with a reseller price override, then the reseller store name displays in square brackets after the category or product.

Only catalog tree entries with this icon next to them can have their settings canceled.

Catalog Filter graphic to identify that this is an included collapsed or expanded category Included collapsed or expanded category If collapsed, child products and categories beneath this category are for sale in the store or contract unless they are explicitly excluded from being sold.

If expanded, a catalog category for which the Catalog Filter tree has been expanded. Child products and categories beneath this category are for sale in the store or contract unless they are explicitly excluded from being sold.

Catalog Filter graphic to identify that this is an excluded collapsed or expanded category Excluded collapsed or expanded category If collapsed, a catalog category for which the Catalog Filter tree has not been expanded. All child products and categories beneath this category are excluded from being sold in the store or contract.

If expanded, a catalog category for which the Catalog Filter tree has been expanded. All child products and categories beneath this category are excluded from being sold in the store or contract.

Catalog Filter graphic to identify that the category is expanded Expanded category A catalog category for which the Catalog Filter tree has been expanded. This catalog category has not inherited an adjustment from a higher node in the catalog tree. This category and everything below it are not for sale.

Catalog tree actions

The following actions might be available by clicking on entries in the catalog tree:
Include option
Displays when a node does not currently have a filter setting. This option sets the catalog, category, or product as included at 0% discount.
Include with Adjustment
Includes for sale in the store or contract the selected catalog tree entry and any catalog tree entries below the selected catalog tree entry. Including the catalog, a category, or product displays the Include with Adjustment dialog which allows you to apply a price adjustment on the node you are including.

Consumer direct (B2C)For B2C stores, the Include with Adjustment dialog does not display if you choose a reseller category or product to include for sale in the store.

Exclude
Excludes the selected catalog tree entry and catalog tree entries belonging to the selected catalog tree entry from being sold in the store or contract.

For all contracts other than hosting and base contracts, this option is only available if the selected catalog tree entry is currently included and has an included parent catalog tree entry. You can only exclude a node, if a parent node is included at a higher level.

Set Price Adjustment
Changes the fixed price or percentage price adjustment for a product.
Calculate Price
For B2C stores, you can view the actual storefront price customers will see for a product. The price displayed includes any percentage price adjustment applied to the product. The calculated price is only available and accurate after you have saved any changes made to the Catalog Filter. In other models, the adjusted price for active contracts displays after using the Update Catalog Filter tool.
Cancel Settings
Removes the explicit filter on a catalog tree entry. The selected catalog tree entry and any entries below the selected catalog tree entry inherit the filter setting from the selected entry's parent entry unless there is an explicit filter on a catalog tree entry.

Cancel Settings is only available when the explicit filter icon icon appears before a catalog tree entry.

Expand
Expands this catalog tree entry to display catalog tree entries belonging to the selected catalog tree entry. Large categories will take longer to expand than smaller categories as the information is retrieved from the server.
Collapse
Collapses the catalog, category, or product to hide products and categories belonging to the node selected.

This panel displays the component price adjustments defined for the current dynamic kit with the name and SKU of the associated component, and the defined adjustment. Use this panel to enter the following information:

Add
Click Add to define a price adjustment for a component within the dynamic kit. The Find Dynamic Kit Components dialog displays in which you can either search for, or directly enter the SKU of the components for which you want to specify price adjustments. Once you have selected the components, click OK to return to the Kit Component Pricing panel. The selected components are added to the list.
Price Adjustment
Enter the price adjustment for the component by entering a value, and selecting the manner of adjustment from the list. For example, you can enter a number, and specify that it is the price within the component, or you can enter a number and indicate that it is either a percentage markup, or a percentage markdown. Percentage adjustments will be made to the offer price defined in the price list selected in the catalog filter.
