Contracts or Accounts - Shipping Charge Type

Use this page to select how shipping charges will be processed for the contract or account. A shipping charge type term can be specified in the base contract, the customer contract, and in the business account.

Only one shipping charge type term is used for a contract, based on the following rules:

  • If defined, use the shipping charge type term in the customer contract.
  • Otherwise, if defined, use the shipping charge type term in the business account.
  • Otherwise, use the shipping charge type term in the base contract.

Lists the shipping charge types selected for this contract or account. To remove a shipping charge type from the selected list, select the shipping charge type to remove and click Remove. The selected shipping charge type no longer displays in the Selected shipping charge types list.
Available shipping charge types
Lists the available shipping charge types for this contract or account. To select a shipping charge type:
  1. Select the appropriate shipping charge type from the Available shipping charge types list. To select multiple shipping charge types, hold down the Shift key and highlight the items you want.
  2. Click Add. The selected shipping charge types display in the Selected shipping charge types list.

Important! It has to be noted that multiple shipping charge types are supported for orders. Consider setting up a separate contract for the shipping charge types that can be applied to orders.

If you use the same contract for stores using single and multiple shipping charges, WebSphere Commerce applies the following rules in the sequence shown to select the shipping charge type:

  • If only one shipping charge type exists, use that.
  • If more than one shipping charge type exists:
    • If one of the shipping charge types is free shipping, use that type.
    • If one of the shipping charge types is shipping charged by carrier, use that type.
    • If one of the shipping charge types is shipping charged by seller, use that type.

When placing orders using the HCL Commerce storefront, B2B customers are responsible for ensuring that they select the appropriate shipping charge type for the shipping method selected for the order or order item. For example, customers should not select a shipping charge type of shipping charged by carrier if they do not have an account with the carrier.
