Changing tax specifications for a product

You select taxes that apply to a product from a list of taxes that are defined in the store. Tax specifications for a product become the default tax specifications for SKUs based on this product. These tax specifications are used when calculating taxes on an order that include SKUs based on this product.

Procedure

  1. Find the product you want to change.
  2. Select a field in the product row that you want to change, and from the Actions menu, click Change Product. The Change Product notebook opens.
  3. To change sales tax for a product, such as "Electronics Sales Tax", from the left navigation frame, click Sales Tax. The Sales Tax page displays. Do the following:
    • To assign a sales tax to the product, select the tax name from the Available taxes list, and click Add.
    • To remove a sales tax assigned to the product, select the tax name from the Selected taxes list, and click Remove.
    • If there are no available taxes, you can create the sales tax from Store Services.
  4. To change shipping tax for a product, such as "Overnight Shipping Tax", from the left navigation frame, click Shipping Tax. The Shipping Tax page displays. Do the following:
    • To assign a shipping tax to the product, select the tax name from the Available taxes list, and click Add.
    • To remove a shipping tax assigned to the product, select the tax name from the Selected taxes list, and click Remove.
  5. To save the changed tax specifications and close the notebook, click OK.

What to do next

If the changes to the catalog data do not display in the store, the Site Administrator might need to disable caching or remove the currently cached JSP pages.
