Stopping a job and then resuming it

There are three methods you can use to stop a job while it is running. Each method is used for a different reason, which largely depends on whether you want to keep the data or you want to continue running the job from the point where it left off. You can resume a suspended job to continue the scan from where it stopped. A resumed job is handled by the next free agent on any available agent server.

About this task

Note: Jobs that have been ended or canceled cannot be resumed. Because data was saved when you suspended the job, your data is left intact as the job continues to scan the site. If the job has a resume alert associated with it, the alert notification is sent when the job resumes running.
  1. Select the job and choose one of the following methods:
    Method Description Can be resumed
Suspend Suspends the job because it is in a continuous loop, has developed an error, or because you want to free the agent to run another job. A suspended job is stopped, the data collected is stored, and the associated agent becomes available to handle another job. You can End, Cancel or Run (resume from where it left off) a suspended job. However, the data gathered will not display in your reports. If you later resume the job successfully, then the stored data can be used in your reports. Yes
Save current results and stop Saves the current results and stops the job. The run will finish normally and save the data collected so far in the database, but the reports will be incomplete. No
Discard results and stop Discards any data collected during the run and stops the job. No
  2. To resume a job, find the job you want to resume and select it in the Folder Content Summary.
  3. Click the Run icon (Run).
