  As you prepare for an installation, you need to gather some items, review hardware and software requirements, and then you can perform the installation.
  - Before installing Unica Discover Session Archiving
    Before you install Unica Discover Session Archiving, you need to gather the software needed for the installation.
  - Hardware requirements
    The Unica Discover Session Archiving server has some hardware requirements.
  - Software requirements
    In general, do not install Unica Discover Session Archiving on a server where other resource- intensive applications are installed.

    To install Session Archiving software, complete the following steps:
    - Verifying the Instllation on Microsoft Windows
      After installing Unica Discover Session Archiving software, you must verify the installation.
  - Upgrading Unica Discover Session Archiving from a previous version
    Session Archiving was introduced in release 12.1.1 and if you already have Session Archiving installed, you must upgrade it to move to version 12.1.2.
  - Prerequisite configurations for Session Archiving Server on Distributed environment
    If you have Apache Tomcat as the application server, you need Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for Apache Tomcat webserver runtime. Before installing Session Archiving Server, you must configure JRE_HOME.

    In this installation step, you add the Unica Discover Session Archiving server.

    In this step, you install the Session Archiving software.

    In this installation step, you enable communications between the Unica Discover Portal and Unica Discover Session Archiving, and you create an instance of the Unica Discover Session Archiving Server in the Portal Management page.

    Before you configure large extract jobs that involve a high number of sessions, configure a test extract of no more than three sessions. This step is optional.

Verifying the Instllation on Microsoft Windows

After installing Unica Discover Session Archiving software, you must verify the installation.

To verify the installation on Microsoft Windows, complete the following steps:

Procedure

In the Windows search bar, type regedit.
The Registry Editor dialog opens.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > WOW6432Node > Unica Discover.
Confirm if the values for the following fields are the same that were provided during installation:
- DiscoverPath
- MasterServer
- SMTPServer
Ensure that the value of SessionArchiving_Installed has (1) suffixed to it.
To start Discover services, navigate to Start Menu > Unica Discover > Start Discover Services.
To reset IIS, open the command prompt, type iisreset and press Enter.
To verify if the application server is up and running, open a browser and access the following link:

http://<IP Address>:38007/SessionArchivingServer/ExtractSA
```
